Mr. Porreca grew up in Montville, New Jersey and attended Montville Township High School, graduating in 1989.
He next attended Franklin & Marshall College, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. While studying there, he majored in Geology, played for the college rugby team, and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts from Franklin & Marshall, Mr. Porreca next attended the Paralegal Studies Program at Fairleigh Dickenson University, located in Madison, New Jersey. Upon completion of that program, he went to work for the Morristown, New Jersey firm of Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti in their Labor Law department. While working for this firm, Mr. Porreca made the final decision to attend law school.
Mr. Porreca attended the Widener University School of Law, located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. During his second year, Mr. Porreca was accepted to the school's Law Review, The Widener Journal of Public Law, which is basically the law school version of the Honor Roll. Members write for and publish this publication twice per year. During his third year he was chosen to be that publication's Editorial Board, being voted for the position of External Managing Editor for Solicitation. As such, he was responsible for securing new business for the Journal. Additionally, Mr. Porreca had two articles published in the Journal during his tenure.
Mr. Porreca completed law school in 1998, and then passed both the New Jersey and New York Bar exams. Additionally, because of his high score on the Multi-State portion of the exam, he was able to waive into the District of Columbia Bar without taking that exam.
Shortly thereafter, he began his professional career with the Livingston, New Jersey firm of Morgan, Melhuish, Monaghan, Arvidson, Abrutyn & Lisowski, practicing in the area of personal injury defense, representing the policy holders of various large insurance companies. He next took a job with the Roseland, New Jersey firm of Marshall, Dennehey, Warner, Coleman & Goggin, continuing to practice in the personal injury defense area, as well as architectural and engineering malpractice defense. Mr. Porreca next found employment with the Hackensack, New Jersey firm of Hoberman, Resch, DiPiazza & Driscoll. This was a four attorney firm where Mr. Porreca feels that he truly learned to practice law, attending to the legal problems of man on the street instead of institutional clients. While working for this firm, his practice centered on both municipal court and criminal defense, plaintiffs personal injury work, as well as Matrimonial Litigation.
After two years with this firm, Mr. Porreca opened his own practice in 2003.
